hello peeps,

does anyone still have any of the caa reps' contact info from the bike show(s)? i remember talking to one of them and told me to give him a call when it's time to renew and he'd still give the bike show deal.

or does anyone have any good deals/discounts for caa membership?

thanks in advance.

I currently have Deluxe TD Auto Club (never had to use it so far but it's "free" with my credit card). The biggest turn off is that they only tow to the nearest service center and not to your nearest preferred service center. So 250kms or whatever it is is kind of pointless.

What was the deal at the bike show OP?

it was discounted rates for the membership packages. if I remember correctly, it was 73$ plus tax for the plus membership (regular 114$).

This one is less than CAA, more than AMA, but tows up to 250 km. It's good for multi-rider households too. Not sure how AMA handles multiple riders with multiple vehicles (they say they cover all vehicles in the household, but does the registered member need to be present when making a service call?)

thanks for the Costco deal, looks interesting. but I think you have to be a Costco member to take advantage of this(??)

  • A service provider will attempt minor adjustments or repairs to render the vehicle safely operational, or tow the vehicle to an appropriate repair facility within 250 km’s.

Does that mean I can choose which repair facility?
Does that also mean I can't tow it home?

Most road side assistance programs cover the person or member or credit cars holder for any vehicle they are operating. Typical exclusions are commercial, business and sometimes motorcycles.

Many stipulate they will try a boost or tire change or something minor to get you safely on your way. They won't try anything fancy like urinate in the radiator or use pant hose for the fan belt. Lol.

They typically stipulate the closest repair facility they have a business relationship with. If they do allow a tow home they won't tow the same vehicle a second time for the same break down. And even if you try to say its for a different issue they can refuse paying for the second tow but they will dispatch the service. Generally the cost is cheaper than if you contacted the provider yourself.

Can't speak for CAA, but for AMA, i have a personal membership, and have on more than one occasion used them to tow my fully marked commercial vehicle. Never an issue.

On my last service call with them, on my personal car, the guy didn't give a hoot where I wanted it towed. He would have brought it to my house if I wanted too. He ended up towing it from Burlington to Stoney Creek to my preferred mechanic. Then gave me a ride home about 10 mins away in his tow truck.

No BS, great service.

Customer for life.

A lot of the drivers don't get paid much so they will let stuff slide but it depends on the towing company and sometimes if they are busy or not.

I've had members get denied and say they got service under the same conditions before. There probably is a lot that goes on without the road side program not knowing.

You have to make sure you have CAA Plus for the motorcycle coverage. I've used it once for a tow - a whole flatbed for my wee ride. My girlfriend used it a few times: locked keys in the car, ran out of gas. You know, girly stuff.

Anyway, always prompt and good service.
