I hope you're right handed, wiping your ***** with your off hand is surprisingly difficult.
I was at Royals tent sale this past weekend and looked at the Five gloves. Fro $230 + tax they are a heap of poo. I already have a few pairs of VR gloves so I didn't get in on the group buy this time, but if I didn't have extras, I would get at least two pairs. Regarding which to get shorty/gauntlet, I think it depends how/where you ride. If you're only in the city and light highway riding, the shorty's are, in my opinion, perfectly sufficient. Anything beyond that, and I'd recommend the gauntlets.

Luckily I'm ambidextrous. However try even getting dressed one handed. It's a b¡tch!

These are my old gloves and from looking at Roomie's hand I'll bet I would not fare any better wearing these than he did. The only saving grace is that these are $80 gloves instead of $200 plus gloves!
