Racing with SOAR this year so that should increase a bit for 2014. I'd do all 6 (7 with Shanny?) SOAR rounds including Fridays plus the practice weekend if was up to me, but that totals 23 days and I am guessing my spouse might have something to say about that....
First year racing so that is 6 weekends (maybe 7 if the combined race series is run) so that is 12-14 days and I have 8 track days booked so that is 20-22 days at the track. I still have the streetbike out this year and will have some weekday rides, weekend rides and one week down at deals gap (hopefully if I have vacay left).
I will be doing about 8 to 10 track days, plus 7 race weekends (2 days) and 1 practice weekend. Plus Endurance racing in hopefully all race weekends.
I also did a few weekends in PA, and many day rides.
Keep your street bike and buy a cheap track bike.... however track bike prices are just going up every year
Or if you are really committed and on a budget, sell your shinny pretty street bike, and use the money to buy an older street bike and a used track bike
Last year was my third and biggest year with 8 race weekends, 6 of them with a Friday practice and one or two track days.
I can't be bothered to ride street anymore and my dirt bike buddies are getting back into it next year so I'll have a way to scratch the itch between race weekends.
Plan for this year, all 7 SOAR rounds (including the joint RACE round at Shannonville), plus 3 VRRA rounds (Shannonville, Grand Bend, Mosport), probably one beginning-of-season warm-up practice day, and probably one GTAM track day.
I'm having a hard time deciding what I should focus on this year. I can probably afford both but it's just not practical. If you had one choice, would you do every track event in the year or do 0 track days but street ride for the season?
