It's interesting how some people always argue against change. My brother still argues against seatbelts, for example. No evidence can convince him. Similar thing here with ABS.
I have it on my current bike. I practice emerency stopping all the time. I almost never brake hard enough to get the ABS to kick in because before it does I'm already sliding over the tank (yes I do grip with my knees, my point is that I can stand my bike on its nose almost, before ABS kicks in). Except in rain. Then it kicks in sometimes.
The argument that no ABS is safet because you ride more cautiously is foolish. I suppose you also think drum brakes are better than disc?
The only downside to ABS, for me, is stopping in loose gravel, on a grade. I don't do that much on my street bike so I don't worry about it.
It's called "put car in neutral". Apparently, putting the car in neutral when trying to stop hard is not taught to many drivers. Makes a ton of difference in stopping times.

I drive a manual and hard stops are with the clutch in. I pulled the ABS fuse to test and and I can stop a car length shorter from 50kph without ABS. Loose surfaces require more lockup.
As for putting in neutral, most new cars have brake assist which basically predicts that you are doing an emergency stop and drops all anchors to the max. (I hope it doesn't kick in if doing left foot braking)
I think the ultimate goal is to make all driver training completely unnecessary!
