Very slowly introduced by Rossi. 250 parallel twin.

They also announced an XV950 Cafe Racer -this is the old Virago engine which has been stuck in ugly cruisers forever, but was made iconic by Greg Hageman.
Hopefully, it won't be just a bigger Bolt.

I actually spoke to Hageman. He can build one of those Viragos for under ten grand, including the cost of the donor bike.
He's now selling the rear sub-frame, seat on eBay, and the tank is a Benelli Mohave repro.

Japan is finally starting to pay attention to these custom builders, because they are generating more ideas than some guy on a CAD machine.

my son will own this bike once he reaches riding age in a few years!

A manufacturer needs to make a bike like this with a detuned 450cc single. I would be all over that like stink on ****.

??
But the XV950 is the Bolt.
Do Bolt and Virago have the same engine?

Bolt engine is derived from the Viragos.

The model is XV950 Cafe, which is supposed to be different from the 950 Bolt Cruiser.

Really? I thought the Bolt motor was derived from the newer V-Star 950 motor. Different bore and stroke, anyway. The various Viragos served as the starting points for the V-Stars. Who knows though. 125, 250, 400, 500, 535, 650, 750, 920, 1000 and 1100 (and unrelated 1300) displacements start to blur what's derived from what.

I want that! My coworker emailed Toronto BMW and he is getting his deposit ready... I hope he can afford it and buys it. At $17,000 I know I won't, so my only chance to ride it is if he lends it to me...

It's a pretty vanilla design standard bike. BMW expects owner to fork out $18-20K, then buy another $5K in accessories to make the bike distinctive.
This works for Harley as well. I just don't see the value.

If you're looking for a fix it might be a yawner but as a motorcycle to ride around on it'll be more than fine. What's it lacking?

Here are the photos - the cafe bike that Yamaha presented at the Tokyo show is just a Bolt... done in the cafe style... the engine is not bigger, it is just the same Bolt that was introduced earlier this year, with plenty of custom bits...
