Interesting but I have no intentions to race anyone outside ht track, as per the features, the Harry's Laptimer does everything I need, it would be cool to see gear shifting on the screen but i mostly know in which gear I am by looking at the video and where in the track i am at that point.

For 30 bucks, Harry's laptimer is still the way to go.

Harry's Lap Timer for Android requires 4.0 or later... not compatible with my Samsung Rugby :( I guess I'll be sticking with my XT Mini-Lap for now.

Yeah, maybe. I would need an external higher frequency GPS module too wouldn't I?

I wouldn't really buy either. $500 gets me a lot of other bike upgrades. All I really need to know right now is my time. A clinometer would be kinda cool though. :)

Gen 4 Ipod on Ebay 110 bucks
GPS Frequency amplifier 90 Bucks
Harry's laptimer ap 30 bucks

If you already have an iphone or ipod then no need to buy another one

I am a big fan of it

I just bought my own laptimer for 45$. It does laptimes and that's it. I don't really care what my lean angle or g forces are on a turn. Seems like a huge waste of money to me.

Sure but don't you want to know what your speed at certain corners and straights is so you know where your weak points are and work on them next session out?

I tape over my speedo and It's regeared anyway so it isn't correct. I'm not going to look back at the end of the and be like "I can do that corner 10km faster". I'm never going to know when I'm doing it anyway. I think vids are the best way to learn. And following faster people. Feeling the difference makes more sense to me than numbers.

Okay now that's pretty f'ing cool! This winter I think it'll be extra crash protection (all my bike has is frame, spool and bar end sliders) before cool goodies like that though.

I understand and agree, when i said knowing your speed doesn't meant looking a the speedo, it means looking at the data the laptimer provides and understand where you can improve.

For example, I was really surprised at my top speed on the back straight at Mosport being only 224 km/hr, while riding I thought I was going all balls out but once I saw the data I knew that I had to do some gearing changes to increase top speed. I would have never figure that out without the data because as you said, I don't look at the speedometer while I am on track. Just something to consider.

I understand that there are other better ways to improve your riding ability and speed like more seat time, following faster riders, but if tools are available at a cheap cost, why not use them

You could run a gear indicator (with shift lights if you wanna go fancy), then both while you're on the track, plus in the videos after, you'll have your gear indicated (plus shift lights): http://www.r6-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150337

If ALL you want is LAP times, then no, you don't need a better GPS module. The build in GPS module will be accurate to .00001 seconds for lap times. If you want to see your exact lines through corners, exact sector times and/or use the GPS signal to calculate acceleration and braking zones and forces then a higher accuracy GPS adapter is required.

On Android I recommend this for a 10hz GPS adapter (bluetooth): http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Qstarz-BT-Q8...0923922629?pt=GPS_Devices&hash=item1e7bac84c5
On iPhone I recommend this for 10hz (bluetooth): http://gps.dualav.com/explore-by-product/xgps160/

Built in GPS module is good for 100kHz (1/0.00001s) but a 10Hz external module is better for catching lines? 10Hz is only 0.1s accuracy...
