Park in front 36 Toronto St

Guys,

This happened yesterday when I parked right in front of the building when somebody did maintenance to the outside wall. They dropped some debris from the wall and hit my fuel tank so left some dent in three different spots. I don't think I will be able to get compensation from either building management nor the company who did the maintenance since it will be hard to prove it unless I was there filming when that happened.

Anyone has similar experience before? I saw there're plenty of bikes parked next to mine yesterday, not sure if I'm the only victim. It's a brand new bike and I really piss to myself now.

I'm also using this thread as a warning to any riders who normally park their bike there. Make sure you park it several metres away from the building. Don't make the same mistake I did :(

Was you bike there? Yes. Were they doing construction at that time? Yes. Did you keep the debris that showed it was from the building?
Tell the f***ers to pay up or take them to small claims court.

If they were dropping debris on the street, you should also call police because if there wasn't a temporary street shelter built, that's unsafe and illegal.

I'd contact my insurance agent

Contact your insurance company first. If you were legally parked, common sense says this isn't your fault. If insurance won't help, try to file a police report. Get a written damage estimate from your shop and contact the building owner's head office, (not the on-site property management).

Worst case scenario, I'd personally visit each tenant office in the building & speak to the managers/customers and "politely request" that they ask the building management to reimburse for damages. Leave if they tell you to get off their property.

If you want to go to small claims court get a paralegal/lawyer who can play.

Also try to leave a note on other damaged bikes you see in the neighborhood over the next few days.

Thank you guys for your advice. I have contacted the building manager and sent the pictures.
Looks like there isn't any other victim but me, saw only a red ducati parked next to mine but didn't see any damage. The rest of the fleet have long gone since I left office at 6.30 pm that day.

My office happened to be in that building so I thought it would be easier to just approach the manager. I'm actually not sure how to fix the dent on the fuel tank, I don't think they are going to repaint it. It's probably easier and cheaper for them to just replace it with a new one.
