Spool - Screw Length

Hi All,

Just bought some generic screws made for it for a R6 but I have a street triple - just wondering if there are varying screw lengths for spools.

I don't want to be using spools that are too short for the bike.

Thanks!

It might be a different thread pitch for the screws, I would check that out first. Just remember, if they don't want to easily go in, don't force them. You'll only damage things.

Yeah the threading is okay - I just concerned that it is not long enough.

The screw length, or the spool itself?

IIRC, most spool stands are adjustable for varying width swingarms.

First of all they are bolts not screws
And it depends on the year of your street triple? 06-10 use a 6mm bolt which is the same as an R6, 11+ use an 8mm bolt which is a totally different size bolt then R6 spools bolts

I have never seen different lengths, generally most companies just make different size bolts M6x1.0, M8x1.25, M10x1.25

General rule of thumb for minimum thread depth it equal to bolt diameter, anything longer is over kill and the bolt should snap before pulling out the threads in equal strength bolt/thread material. So a 6mm bolt should thread in a minimum of 6mm, 8mm-8mm, etc etc

Thanks Johnny for the correction - yeah bolts! I know its M6 but I am referring to the second dimension 1.0 / 1.25.

M6 is only available in M6x1.0 ......There may be rare cases of custom or specialty bolts having different thread pitches in M6, but standard for M6 is 1.0 and I have never seen anything else used on a motorcycle.....

Just to be clear the 2nd number I listed is the thread pitch not bolt lenght...Which is the measurement between each thread.....As I said all the companies I have bought sliders from do not offere different lengths, just a standard length in whatever size the bolt is....They will all have the correct amount or more length for the bolt to be strong
