Weird sprockets in Finland

A "mud sprocket" won't help when you drop into a hole and bang the chain on the outside. (I once landed on the sprocket on a rock, spit the chain, bent the sprocket... about a mile and a half out in a hare scramble. Nice push). A shark fin WILL help.
The isn't much more to it. Grind off every third tooth. The idea is to give the debris a place to go.

Solid rotors are a MUST for mud racing. Yes you'll burn off a set of new pads in one race, without ever touching the brake, with regular rotors. You can also easily overheat and ruin a rotor in the mud.

For more mud racing info talk to Smed at Kahuna. He was the fastest guy in the mud I know. He used to LIKE mud racing... 'cuz it usually meant he would win the race.

Ok, thanks. I already have a shark fin but I'll have to keep the sprocket in mind if I ever decide to race the Cord again. Not sure if that'll ever happen though. I'd much rather see how fast I can go instead of how many times and how fast I can pull my bike out of a mudhole like I did yesterday.

Might make the switch to harescrambles next year.
