Shogun Sliders

Looking to perhaps invest in a pair of Shogun Sliders. I hear the "cut" ones are the way to go. Would anyone recommend them?

Also - looking at ebay, the prices seem to vary quite a lot. There are some shogun kits for $40 and some for $80 and even some for $150?

Not sure if there's a difference in them or what they should ideally go for? Any chance of getting these locally?
 
buy some woodcrafts or vortex (woodcraft are better imo) high grade hardware and replacable sliders. well worth the extra 20 or 30 bucks over the no name stuff

But "Shogun" sounds way more macho and bikerish. Woodcraft sound like some poncy new age furniture shop. And Vortex sounds too Star Warsy geek. Shougun sliders for the chicks.

Couldn't find the Vortex sliders at BlueStreak. But am going to order a set of the Woodcrafts asap. I'm guessing all the woodcrafts are true "cut" sliders?
 
I ordered the woodcraft ones so that I don't have to replace my fairings if I drop my bike.

depends what model of bike you have. but yes woodcraft sliders come with a longer engine mount bolt to replace the stock one and mount up there. "no cut" sliders just use some sort of bracket or mount somewhere else making them pretty much for looks only
 
Woodcraft may not be the coolest name, but they are the best sliders hands down over any other hollow center slider on the market. Tested them myself!

Woodcrafts use a solid slider puck and therefore offer way more surface area for sliding and don't wear out. Such a simple design change over the others makes such a huge difference

Vortex is by far one of the worst, their plastic they use for their sliders is so soft and the hollow center is so large you are left with very little plastic to slide on that is so soft the whole slider wears down to the base fast!

having to take the whole mounting bolt out to replace the slider on
the vortex sucks too. the woodcrafts set screw design is much better. have crashed both myself as well lol

Not sure what you mean every Vortex Ive installed or replaced did not require you to remove the mounting bolt. The mounting bolt holds the base to the frame/engine, then there is a large hex key adapter that holds the slider to the base...You only need to remove the threaded adapter to replace the sliders, not the mounting bolt

My post was 100 % about quality and crash ability, as you I have also crashed both. The Vortex puck wore down %75 and barely did anything to protect the bike, Woodcrafts look like they could go another round after a crash...I have a pile of Vortex slider pucks in my spares and they are all mangled

I just had a customer on here whos track bike I setup, he had bought the bike with Vortex sliders already on it, but I told him I would change them if I was him. He bought Woodcrafts, and I think it was a good decision as he went down shortly after. And you can tell the Woodcraft slider took majority of the impact. It is worn bad but could still go anther round...Had he left the Vortex I think there would be way more damage to the bike

How hard of a time am I going to have to install the cut-woodcrafts I just ordered? What tools would I generally need?

just get Johnny to do a clean cut job for you...

Its not worth you buying tools and ruining the fairings on your new bike attempting something you've never done before.
