Anyone prefer just riding solo?

Each time I head home down yonge street, bikers seem to love to open the throttle on young and dundas at the traffic light. I know its all about having fun and having a sense of humor, but this douch-ness is just ridiculous. Ive stopped waving all together as I can spot a ****** a mile away.

What happened to all the down to earth riders just wanting to ride? Or is it just about showing off?

Sorry for the vent.. extremely rough day and gixers on yonge just bug me.

The only reason anyone would ride to Yonge and Dundas is to show off. Especially on a gixxer. And if they're going north it's the last chance they have to give it a squirt until they get to the 401, and that's depressing.

Why the bash of the gsxr? I've seen plenty of retards on various brands of bikes. The last tool was on a r1 doing a wheelie in the middle turning lane of hwy 10 to show off while passing traffic. Does that make all r1 owners bad? How about no.

I think it's just a running joke now, but it crosses all brands....

But a ****** is a ******.

It's just the 'look at me' aspect of riding in a populated area of young wommmenz.

My solution is to stay away and switch lanes, and keep riding at my own leisure.

Showing off a 600-1,000cc engine... hardcore

Yes. I almost never ride in groups anymore; too many stupid riders and I just don't want to be around when it goes bad. Add to that the attention seekers (which is the opposite of what I want) and solo, or with a friend or two, is best.

My buddies and I sometimes do that. We also bounce off the rev limiter in residential areas to let our friends know we're there. Yeah it's obnoxious, yeah it's attention whorish but at least for myself, I do it because it's fun.

I spend 6-10 hours, depending on the time of year, cooped up on a desk staring at screen. I don't get much human interaction and most coworkers, even if they are next to you, prefer to use instant messaging to talk.

I got my GSXR back in November and have put ~7,000km on it since. I love riding and I could care less for showing off (that's how accidents happen) but I appreciate the occasional compliments, thumbs up, and waves. In return, my enthusiasm for riding heavily influences right wrist! :P

My bad bro, I had just removed the baffle from my exhaust and was enjoying the new sound.

Nobody rides down town for the quality twisty roads, so it's social riding, attention seeking, and the desperate hopes of attracting someone of the opposite or same sex. So bouncing off the rev limiter is a misguided fertility dance.

Hey chicks look how big mine gixxar is!

Meh, as long as they're not putting anyone in danger I couldn't care less, just enjoy your ride...some like it loud and fast, others like it slow and steady :P

I remember a year ago, this kid just ripped it every block on the danforth, and i just cruised and caught upto him on every traffic light, he kept showing off how fast he can take off....finally at the end he is like "hey do you know where the closest gas station is?" I replied yeah, right front of you... lol

Still not annoying as Harley's.

You my friend just opened up a whole new can of worms :D but yes, I do agree they're rather annoying, i'd prefer to hear a SS scream then the loud farting Harley's (no offense to any owners!! Just my opinion)

So, you do annoy everyone else with obnoxious noise because you're lonely?

OT: Sad working culture gen Y has created, isn't it?

I live in Thorncliffe Park (East York) and at night I always hear the screaming SS bikes exhaust on Overlea blvd. Kinda got used to it :S

Same with the same old group of guys who hang outside the Hard Rock at Dundas Square on what seems every night I happen to ride by. LED's blazing.

Girls don't care. If they did, you'd only have to go once!

Bikes are for riding, not posing!
