no kidding! LoL at least the appalachain in the US is not too bad. Good enough. But Quebec? Lol don't think so
You don't get trouble breathing below 14,000 feet which is where you can still fly without oxygen.
The Laurentians are in the 3-4000 ft range and the Appalachians mostly in the 3-5,000 foot range - so peanuts difference and it really has nothing to do with twisty riding.

Unless things have changed since I got my pilot's license and I missed the Notam, in Canada and USA 10,000 feet is the most withought Oxygen for sustained flying. You are allowed up to half an hour at a higher altitude (for example flying through passes). I forget the exact altitude but I think my training said 12,000 feet in USA and 13,000 feet in Canada (we have a higher pass.)

Yes that is correct for sustained. 14,000 was okay at Tempe I was told but that was a couple of decades ago. Could have gone a lot higher - got my gold climb - 900' to 14,000 in just a few minutes - big sucker of a thermal.
Girl the day before set a state record at 22,000' - she of course had oxygen but bet that was chilly.
We did feel the difference in running at over 9,000 in Sequoia National Park then it felt very weird to wind down below sea level in Death Valley in a very short period.
