Liter Bike insurance for a 25 year old...

Its a well known fact SF rapes you on car insurance...It seems in Ontario the insurance companies do whatever the hell they want.

Not always, They were an extra $10/month higher on the car insurance but knocked off $50/month on the bike. They also gave me an extra $20/month off on my car insurance to take $15/month renters insurance.

agreed although the car insurance was slightly more the rest of my insurance went down enough to see a benefit of switching everything over.

SF was cheaper for my car insurance but killing me on my home insurance....so I switched. SF quoted me 700 /yr and I never even rode a street bike in my life. They where more 50% cheaper than anyone else.

I was quoted at $2200 for a liter. One at fault, no tickets.

I think Statefarm rates will be going up in the near future tho =/

I have it on a reliable source rates will bee going up at SF. They had an operating loss for 2012.

I was actually able to get legit quotes today at the show...Based on me being 25, clean record in Mississauga with SF

2012 ZX10r: 2513
2013 ZX6r: 1979

The price difference is about how much I would save buying the ZX10r...almost makes me not even want to consider the 636.

Ask them how much it will be when you get a ticket and drop down to the "B" plan.
That is what you should really be looking at.
Pay for "A"
plan to pay for "B"

Cheaper for me to have the bike with SF and get raped on just that and have my home/car with Primmum. Adding the others to SF drops about $800 off my bike (mid 30's with clean record) but my car and home are brutal with them.

SF gave me the cheapest policy and I looked at pretty much every other company. 29 yrs, G for 10 yrs, current GM2 license. 2012 kawasaki ER6N. $170/ month.

Hey man, I bought a 2002 Yamaha R1 before Christmas and just started shopping around for insurance. I'm going to turn 25 in June, but I can't wait that long so I got quoted $211/month. Full G, no tickets/accidents, never got insurance cancelled or anything. I'm getting my M1 this week so I'm going to call again to see how much it will drop after my M2/driving course. They said if I wait till I'm 25 then it will drop almost $800/year!! Buuuuut I can't wait till half the season is done. This is also JUST for the bike, I won't bring my car over because it's almost 3 times as much as I pay now!

SF also said that they only renew motorcycle policies once a year so if I get insurance now, I'm not eligible for the 25yr old rate until next year :( PLUS they said if I start insurance now but want to cancel it in Oct let's say, they will pro rate charge me for the rest of the year anyways. So either way your paying for a whole year of insurance...$211/mo even during winter :(

But all in all, $211/mo for a litre bike and a noob...not too shabby. Gotta pay to play :P

Gonna check out a couple more places, but I think I'll go with SF.

Please clarify if this is only for liability or full coverage? Sounds great if it's for full coverage!

Ahh my apologies! This is just liability only. The bike isn't worth getting full coverage on, I'm almost going to pay in insurance for this year as I did for the bike itself.

I called SF to start the policy and they reviewed the quote and now told me $4400 for the year... WTF!! The woman I spoke to the second time was a complete ******* and extremely rude. I was not happy at all. I asked what changed and she said she didn't know.

So now it's time to shop some more for different insurance :( However...I could wait until my birthday in mid June when I turn 25 and they said it will drop to $1600...FML right! So I might have to just wait it out until then but half the summer will be over.

First world problems

still seems too good to be true with only an M1 and 25 years old on an R1.
thats what I would pay for an SV650 with intact and ive had my licence 11 years and 27 and live in the burbs. problem is intact is the cheapest i can find, i refuse to pay that for an SV so another year of the bike on the track and no street for me

Not really.....
I paid $870/year w/car ($1300 w/o car) for a 600SS with SF when I was 27 with an M1.

So after calling around literally everywhere, I have decided to go with Renata Midura at SF.

$306/month at 24 then when I turn 25 in June it switches to $129/month!! OHHH YEAHHH!!

Gonna have my bike on the road in a couple weeks. I'm going to have to pay out the 306 for a month and a half then wait till my 25th birthday and I'll be laughing :D

So not all is bad! It took numerous phone calls to tons of different insurance companies but I'm glad I found the right one with Renata. Customer service was exceptional and super quick, took maybe 15-20mins tops. Highly recommended for anyone in the under 25 with a litre bike situation.

Didnt your earlier post say it would drop less than that? You sure she didnt just say that it would drop to 129 a month to get your business, knowing the underwriters wont allow that drop?

Sounds a bit unrealistic unless you have a car with them also

I always thought that the premiums only change during a renewal or policy change. Not when your birthday hits or even when a ticket is dropped from your record..

I would be really careful with promises, to be honest, I would wait the month and a half (I know its hard) and see if that is indeed true
