Wiring a lighted rocker switch?

So I'm trying to wire in a few lighted rocker switches and the switch itself seems to work (opens and closes the circuit) but the light on the switch itself won't work? The switch has three prongs that I've set up as follows: 1. to the accessory 2. To the power source 3. To a ground. Does anyone have any idea why the light in the switch won't light up?

does the switch have the terminals numbered 1, 2, 3 ? or are they labelled power , access, ground ? is one of the terminals brass? My guess,,, if there is a terminal that is brass,, it is ground,,, power will be the terminal furthest from the ground, the acc terminal is in the middle,,, if you reverse the power and ground on your present connection,, the light may work. I think it may be a L E D .. which is polarity sensitive... so you have to have the Positive terminal on the power terminal... for neg ground vehicles.. so,, 1- ground -ve...... 2- driving light acc.......... 3- power source +ve . hope that helps,, and if you let any smoke out of the switch,, you might need to get another one...

Ya, one of the terminals is brass which I have the ground hooked up to. They are listed as 1,2, and then the brass one has a +/- symbol next to it. I have the ACC and power source switched around from what you said, do you think that would be enough for the LED to not come on? I've checked the ground with a test light and it works fine. I noticed that the switch says '100-125v' on it, could that be part of my prob?

I just tried testing the light by hooking a wire to the ground on the switch and another to the other terminals (I tried once for each terminal) and touched them to my battery and still no light?

Did you figure this one out yet?
Please dont go to canadian tire and grab one of those switches. I always find the best switches at scrap yards and old motherboards. best of all, they don't cost $5.00, more like 5 cents!

Sounds like the switch was designed to be used in a different environment. Buying a switch designed for automotive use should fix that.
