i rode my first supersport bike and wow you dont feel the speed in these machines. no wonder people are tempted to go fast.

bikes i owned and rode before are

1984 cb125
1974 cb200
1987 cbx250
1982 xj750
1983 cb1000c
1999 gs500

riding the supersport 100 km feels like going 50k on the bikes mentioned above. you just dont feel the speed.

so i gota go 100 to get sensation of the 50 and i probably gotta go 150 to feel like i am going 100 on a regular bike?

i dont really like that. so my question is which of the new bikes can you feel speed on without going super fast?

are all new bike so well made that you dont feel the speed? not sure if you understsnd what i mean? if you never rode an older bike you might not know what i mean

Only way to go is to think SMALL. I mean 250cc (ok, I'll grant 300cc) and below.

More fun to ride a small bike fast, than to ride a fast bike slow.

Beside the bikes i rode in poland which i think were alot less then 100cc :p, a friends from work Yamaha r6 and a ninja 250 i enjoyed the smaller bikes the most!. You can hear the RPM'S screaminng at you and its alot more enjoyable for me. Now i won't say i didnt like the R6 but i have a feeling my insurance would be thru the roof if i had a 600cc class sport bike, like you said the speed come out of nowhere, Riding that R6 120/kph i was like wtf?!?!? already!!!!

it was a zx6 and i was going 100 and felt like i was going 60, it was very weird
You'll get used to it. Put on a loud muffler (if it had stock exhaust) so you can at least hear the RPM ;)

That's because the human intellect doesn't recognize 100km/h as "fast'. 120km/h is reasonable, 150km/h+ is "making time." Unfortunately, the government has decided that speed over 100km/h means "more revenue."

and then the first time you wear full leathers and don't feel the wind like before and you will be going faster too. Then try jumping on a RC30 ....1st gear goes past 100 km/h....down Weston Rd.

But eventually you get used to it and need a faster bike......

I ride an 848 evo............. got it 3 weeks ago.... I cannot get out of second gear in a 60km zone...... otherwise I am gonna get a ticket...

getting up to 100km/hr is literally a few blinks of my eye...

But I gotta say, its still more fun than my ex500 that I had for 5 yrs :) EVERYTIME i go from 0 - 60 in what feels like zero seconds, i have a smile on my face!

Anything naked that has handlebars.. and is powered by a twin or a triple.

Second. You can feel the power delivery much better in the V-twin. As my second bike I found myself checking the speedo at 70km/h cause it felt much faster.

V-twin roar > *

Agreed. The sweet spot on my BMW, when I wanted to go places, was 140 to 150 km/h. That's when wind support, engine powerband and smoothness all came into play. Even then I could daydream while looking a Km ahead on the hwy....

You can easily get to 150-160 km/h in first gear on a ZX10 or GSXR1000.

Speed discipline is tougher on faster bike, no doubt. I've been working on it for some time, and I've found that vibrations are what I was using to sense speed. With a new set of tires installed and balanced properly, my bike was suddenly freakishly smooth, and I was creeping up over 150 km/h just plodding down the highway not in a rush or anything. Just have to retrain yourself to adapt.

lol @ OP

I know what you mean. Test rode a GSXR750 in summer, I didn't realize I was going errr...really unsafe speeds with the Busa next to me till I saw the dash lol

A "hooligan" bike like my hypermotard fills the slot you are talking about
