For those who kept questioning the power/dominance of the BMW S1000RR, please read

dude, go check the superstock 1000 table, and you will see how BMW is absolutely spanking the field.
The WSBK bikes, once again, are not the same bike you buy from the dealership. after 50-80k euro of upgrades any bikes can turn into a monster.

Debating which has more power or agility is a great pissing contest. The BMW has certainly ****** further in the power criteria.

But debating what criteria is the best ultimate criteria is like having a pissing contest for pissing contests!

If comfort is your thing, or power, or pose down cache, or affordability, or aesthetics, they are all valuable pissing contests, but each person weighs their criteria differently.

Raw HP doesn't seem to be a high priority factor for most people, as even those that do care about it don't exploit it. I have been spanked by duct taped 8 year old R6s around a track when I had a 50HP advantage. I certainly cannot extract the peak HP out of any bike around TMP (let's say), because I can't get up to 300kph! And down low out of the turns, so much is about gearing, when playing around with 60HP or so! Remember HP and torque are progressive, and if you aren't revving the BMW to near redline, you ain't tapping that HP figure you're claiming.

Straight line roll on, on the highway....yes you win. Bragging rights over an ice cap...you win there too. How many people give a toss...you lost that one. But I hear it is a comfy commuter....that's probably a criteria right up there with raw power.

With all that power and German-ocity I truly do wonder why in SBK they have struggled so badly and got spanked by the little Italian outfit that could....Aprilia. Down on power, and yet, well you know. In the end, it took an Italian to extract the best out of that German bike too! Fancy that! Maybe Melandri brought a few ponies over with him.

World Super Stock Beamers are getting a run for their money from the Pani, so that domination doesn't look so "absolute". 3+ years in development and yet the Pani is a match in out-the-box trim.

Good job on Bmw for being in first place in superstock, it is no small feat. As for spanking the whole field I don't quite see that in that standings as the 1199 is in 2nd and 3rd place. For a new bike with not much development in it yet, I think that's pretty good.
Bmw is leading the championship yes and that speaks a lot. However they are not annihilating the competition as you say.
11 points ahead of 2nd place is hardly 'spanking the field'

Don't let this thread influence your desire to buy an S1. Its a fantastic bike that you will enjoy probably more than the honda. We are just here arguing about small nuisances in the world of racing.

IMO, any engine that has an exaggerated over-square displacement, combined with shallow piston skirts in an effort to reduce weight for greater piston speed etc, and one that is designed to burn a pile of fuel on demand for big output, also is longevity disadvantaged over an engine built with a bit more conservative aspirations.

For those people, I just want to say: save some money, go to Italy, then go to Germany, interact with the people, go see some places, then you will know why German engineering is so superior. There is simply NO comparison

I dont understand what going to germany/italy, seeing people, visiting places has anything to do with the superiority of European engineering.

It Burns when I pee,,,,

IS THAT BAD??
totally normal.
Nah brah, lil penicillin will clear that right up.
wouldn't waste the money on it, that ***** expensive... and you'll probably jsut catch it again..save it and put it towards stickers to make your bike go faster.

WAIT ITALY AND GERMANY ARE ON DIFFERENT CONTINENTS?! WHOOAA MANN...JUST.. WHOOAAAA!

I'd like to see how many street riding people actually use more than 100HP on any bike and for how long in percentage of running time ..... I am sure it would be a funny and low number.
