Hey just registered because I just got the urge to ride this year... Anyway, after looking for a bike I have picked the one I like best... 2011 honda cbr600rra... My question, what's gonna be my biggest challenge as a new rider for handling a 600 bike as a starter??.... I wanna be safe and intend on taking it easy... Is that a good bike to start with??? Any suggestions will help guys... Thank you :)

Your biggest challenge is going to be to found an affordable insurance quote. LOL

Did you take the course? That's the absolute best first step.

Beyond that, you just need to get out and ride. Be smart, avoid heavy traffic for starters, and practice braking and smooth inputs. Resist the urge to push the bike for a little while. Go to an empty lot and practice braking and low speed turning, starting/stopping. Even one or two days in an empty parking lot will do wonders for your familiarity with the bike.

Safe to start with? Sure. Your wrist is your control.

Will it be a fun bike as a noob? Depends on how your skill is after getting used to the bike....the first 5000 km you will probably be going fast in straights and going more slowly on the turns

Insurance? Depends how old you are and etc....I sold my 600 because I was paying $320/month 1 way + theft and fire.

just take it easy on the throttle, you might or might not drop it depends how much skills u have.

As everyone has said so far, precision in the wrist is key! I'm talking millimeter movements here. These sport bikes can take off right underneath you if you haven't developed that sense and skill.
Just like what mmmnaked said, get used to that sensation over in a parking lot on a weekend. Get a feel for how 10%,20%,30%, etc...of the throttle feels and how it translates onto the bike.

Good luck and safe/smart riding!

Dude something mayhappen
On the street andyou may lose focus and your throttle hand slips... Its happen to me a few times and everytime i have said to myself thank GOD i am not on a super sport 600+

I would say start smaller. No right or wrong just my opinion. True it all comes down to the rider but some bikes are more forgiving for a new rider
