Slower speed lowside, bike is acting up now

Just got a few questions about the bike, hoping one of you can offer some suggestions. It fell on it's right side, the R&G frame slider took a beating and then snapped off. The front brake lever is a bit bent, the front brake reservoir got shaved down a bit, got some dents in the tank, the right side engine cover (not sure what's it's called.. starter motor cover?) got mashed. I'm gonna look for an OEM replacement. And last but not least, my exhaust got a bit of a facelift.

So, my questions are: What can I do about the dented tank? Will the inside rust now that it has been creased like that? Or is the damage purely cosmetic?

Also, it's having a hard time starting and keeping an idle. If I want to start it up (like I had to do to get it home) then I have to hit the starter and crank the throttle open in order for it to fire up. Otherwise it won't turn over. Suggestions?

Tank is fine, looks like all the damage is cosmetic. As for the start up issue, start with checking your cables (throttle and choke) and adjust them if required, then check if your carbs are still seated correctly.
 
Alright, I checked the carbs, they were still seated properly. The problem was the left cylinder spark plug, it was covered in gas. I let it dry out, and then it fired up just like normal. All is well
 
You might want slap a sticker or duct tape over that stator cover hole for now ... if water gets in there, your bike might crap out. If a rock gets in there, it's gonna make a real mess out of things.

Notice that there's not much to fix on your GS500E ... on an GS500F this would be a different story!

Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to do that. I ordered the new Suzuki stator emblem and cover, so hopefully that gets here soon.

And yes, I am glad I opted for the naked version!
