DRIVEN Rear sets... Whose got 'em?

One of the things I am looking to change for comfort are my rear sets. I have done some research and they seem to be a top notch product. However, I would like to hear from real people who have actually tried them and had something to compare them to.

Still deciding between the Driven's or Sato's...
Any opinions/suggestions are welcome and thanks in advance.

Wow! The prices of those.. I know what I should start manufacturing haha
Yeah, tell me about it...
There are cheaper alternatives i.e. Vortex, Woodcraft etc...
I have a problem though, when I buy something, I like to get the best I can within my budget. Vortex go for 260$ +/-, Woodcraft's go or 350$ +/-, I don't mind paying an extra 100 - 200$, its a small price to pay for a top quality item... know what I mean?

I know exactly what you mean, which is why I tend to snicker to myself when I read about people making bike choices based on insurance differences of a few hundred per year.. lol peanuts.

Sorry for posting by the way, I don't have any information regarding the topic, but hey a bump is always nice :P

Yeah, I don't get that either. Riding is a hobby and it ain't cheap. If you're buying a certain bike (not really the one you want, but you're being mature and "compromising") to save a few hundred (not thousands, that I could understand) then you need to prioritize and think of riding as luxury and not a necessity.

Anywho... back on topic, REAR SETS ANYONE?

Had vortex on my old bike, have arata on current bike but I lust over the gilles tooling n rizoma:love10:

I like my aratas feel better but the vortex actually had more adjustablity, but vortex did not come with a brake light switch and the aratas did, but the anodizing on the aratas is coming off a little, didn't happen to the vortex....nitpicking is what it will come down to when choosing a brand imo

Had a look at the Gilles Rear sets, for the same price I would rather have the Driven's, based on cosmetic reasons only. I am sure performance wise they're pretty much neck-to-neck. However based on some of the reviews I read, the Driven's seem to have more adjustment angels and come with peg sliders, not a big deal but it's nice to have the option.
Both sites I checked, I didn't come across any Rizoma's, so I'm not sure what those would look like on my bike. I'll do a bit more research and see what I can find. Thanks for the suggestion.

Any racing/track day goers, your opinion is valued and appreciated.
Aside from the mentioned options any other recommendations are also welcome, thanks!

in this case:

Go with stuff you can get parts for, quickly and cost effectively

the bling stuff looks cool, but when you need a part, good luck.

With vortex and Woodcraft stuff, you can find parts just about anywhere

Thanks for the reply, but when you say "get parts for" how often does one really need parts for rear sets?
Are you saying that based on a rider mishap? i.e. lowsiding, dropping the bike, etc...?

+1 drop your bike once, bend a peg and your $500 rearsets are useless because you cant source a replacement peg....Ive already changed a peg on my 09 ZX6R Woodcraft rearsets 3 times, $30 each including a new bolt and BSR always has them in stock...

The fancy complicated rearsets look nice, but have too many intricate parts to break easily...I like the clean and simple design of Woodcrafts, great quality and crashability.

I had nothing but good experiences with motomummy.com and that's where I plan on getting the rear sets. They have all the replacement parts in stock and they aren't any more expensive than what you said about the Woodcraft's. The only downside about that is having to wait for the part to arrive, which usually takes about a week or so.

I
do appreciate the feedback though, but I don't think the "replacement part" argument is a valid one.
Maybe I'm wrong?

Not many people plan on crashing, I do and keep replacement pegs in stock in my tool box....Because rearsets dont have folding pegs, the littlest low slide or tip over can have you needing a new peg or lever..Moreno636 on the board had a nice set of rearsets he bought online, he had a little get off and couldnt find replacement parts. Those rearsets (or whats left of them) are now in a box collecting dust as they are useless without spare parts availability...

If Driven offers replacement parts for good prices then its a good option, looks like alot of companies are picking up on this and doing it right...Not too long ago there wasnt very many companies that had readily available parts for their rearsets...I used to have Harris rearsets that were really nice, but pegs had to come from the UK and took weeks to get...

Personally out of the 2 you posted Id take the Driven....

That's what I'm saying, the parts are there if needed. Yes, I'm leaning more towards the Driven's at this point in time.
I just wanted to hear what others had to say/suggested.
The reason I don't want to go with Woodcraft's or Vortex is because everybody has them and I like to be a little different. Ironically, I ride a gixxer but it's those little things that make it unique. (I think)

Sato is just as popular as Vortex or Woodcraft these days......Tons of bikes come through the shop with Sato rearsets, Driven I havent touched a bike that had a set of those yet...

If you don't track the bike and it's not you primary means of transportation get whatever you want. I have a set of Harris' on my zx 10 street bike but I'll have somthing like vortex or woodcraft on my track bike so if I do go down I can find someone who will have a spare if I don't.

Even better, thanks Johnny...

Good point, never thought of that...

Looks like I got my mind made up, thank you guys for your help.

I just hope for your sake the Driven rearsets work with your Akrapovic exhaust bracket...If I remember correctly it bolted to the OEM jack up plates, which most likely will be removed and replaced with Driven jack up plates....Might need some Macgyver work for them to work together

Where as the Woodcrafts use the OEM jack up plates, those would fit with your Akra for sure
