Insuring a company owned bike

Hi, I'm new here. My company is buying a motorcycle and I get to ride it. I have been getting outrageous quotes for insurance though ($4000-$5000/yr). The bike is a touring bike, Suzuki C90. I have a super clean record and have had my "M" for over 20 years. Any ideas?

State Farm!
And if the company is buying the motorcycle then they have to put insurance on it, unless they are putting it in your name?

Thanks for the info, but State Farm is telling me they need my car insurance first.

Tied selling at it's best. They can still quote you, it'll just be priced to the point that you'll want to put your car there too.

Company vehicle should be insured by the company.

They usually give you an extra $50 off with a clean record and your car there, but as stated they should still be one of the cheapest.

Thanks to all. I kept calling down the list until I got a yes. $143/mo no collision, $170/mo with collision on an '08 C90 Boulevard. Thanks for the super fast replies.

Is the bike going in your name?

No, company name. If in my name it would be way cheaper.

Then you won't be able to put insurance on it under your name. The company will have to insure it and add you as a driver.

The company likely has a policy to use their corporate fleet insurer, which likely does not deal w/ bikes in the regular basis. You may be stuck with their rate.

Who so you work for by the way? I'd love to try to convince my company to replace my felt car allowance with a bike....

Not necessarily true. It's common for one person/company to own a vehicle and allow someone else to use/ride it (your typical lease is an example of this). It has to be above board and most likely your insurance company will require written confirmation of the details.

That being said, to get back to your original question. Have you tried TD Primmum or Melloche? Both seem to be more concerned about the age of the rider. Also, you say you've had an M license for over 20 years. How long has it been since you were last insured? When I first got quoted with Primmum, as long as I could prove I had previously been insured, it dropped the rate significantly.
