are there any places that hold repo or whatever other reason motorcycles up for auction? maybe i could get lucky with a cheap 250 thatll be cheaper than dirt.

It's true, and they're not that much cheaper. You're not going to get a 4000$ bike for 1500$ and if you did, there's always a catch.

just wanted ask a more general question, why isnt there any public auctions for cars etc here in Ontario? Or is this a Canadian thing???
I've always wanted to know this.. is this to protect the domestic car industry so people are encouraged to buy new...?
In NZ we have Turners Auctions, (http://www.turners.co.nz/Pages/Home.aspx) where I got many a good deal. A lot were trade-in vehicles from dealerships, or people requesting a quick sale.

There are more out there, they do exist you just have to look. They used to be on every block (at least it seemed that way) about 10 or so years ago.
If public motorcycle auctions are like the police bicycle auctions I've been to, don't bother. Hundreds of dimwits with auction fever bidding up worthless pieces of junk.
