Will a Bike pass Safety with Aftermarket (loud) Cobra Pipes?

I'm looking at a cruiser with aftermarket cobra pipes put on it. The owner claims they are loud and makes the bike sound AMAZING. I'm actually not a fan of bike that are TOO loud but regardless, it's a nice bike.

Does anyone know if the safety certification inspection will fail because of these pipes?

They didn't even start my bike up when I had it's safety done at Crappy Tire.

Loud pipe inspection is not part of a safety.

A lot things I've had vehicles fail for weren't on the list.

And that does include getting failed for loud pipes. Of course I tried to argue with the guy, but they really don't seem to care.

If they are loud enough to be illegal, then yes it could fail because of it.

You could always try to tell them you choose loud pipes over gear and riding skill in your quest to save lives..... :D

That's a great link ! Thank you. I did a search for 'muffler', 'exhaust' and 'sound' and nothing I found suggested aftermarket pipes (if installed as required by the code) would fail an inspection.

Thanks !

Loud pipes are not a safety certificate issue, they are a d-bag issue.

Buy it, safety it. Then find a stock exhaust (usually cheap). Sell the cobras and you're ahead of the game. Easy.
