Triumph Sprint ST 955i consuming oil

Guys - just wondering if other 955i owners have issues with engine oil consumption? My 955i Daytona with around 46,000km consumes none, yet my 955i Sprint ST with about 34,000km consumes over 1liter per 1000km, which is way too much even for this (supposedly bulletproof) engine. There are other notes on the web that also report high oil consumption - at the time Triumph claimed improper break-in procedures resulting in poor piston ring sealing. Any Triumph owner have a preferred independant shop they can recommend for related engine work? Thanks!

People call the 955 bulletproof? I would consider it glass-jawed (speaking as the former owner of a T595)

Supposedly a number of the T595 issues were ironed out with the later models. What were your issues with the T595? What was your oil consumption? How many kms did you put on it? I've put about 13,000 troublefree km on my 2000 Daytona 955i (so 44,000 total); the 2003 Sprint ST has been more troublesome.

Any independant mechanic you can recommend for the Triumphs?

I also have a Ducati ST3; I like the 955i Sprint better, but the Ducati has proven (so far, at about 56kkm) to be troublefree. Repairing the Sprint will likely cost more than the bike is worth, but flip side is it will cost a lot more than that to get a better used sport-tourer.

The primary one that ended the bike for me is that I strongly suspect it spun a bearing. I sold it to someone (cheaply, with full disclosure) who supposedly rebuilt it and was happy with it afterwards. I have no motorcycle mechanic recommendations of any kind - I wish I did.

I suppose I have to remember that I also did hear that it got better after that. But then they made a 1050 and that was BETTER better
