Touring options

Hello folks,

When I finally get rid of my bike, I will be upgrading to either a ninja 500, gs500, or an sv650. I plan on doing more travelling with my girlfriend (2-up) which includes camping or jumping from city to city.

What are my best options for luggage? Im thinking saddle bags and a tank bag, maybe a rear mounted Givi case? Hopefully the touring gurus and master can chime in. I was looking at the Cortech 2.0, but I don't think it gives my passenger much space.

Also with relation to my bike choices, I'm guessing the SV trumps over the 500s, but if i was limited to the 500s which would serve my purpose better?

Assuming both you and the squeeze are on the smaller size and you arn't in a huge rush any of those bikes will work. Saddle bags and good expandable tank bag are a good start (go magnetic - they rock)
I can camp for a week with gear strapped to a crotch rocket but two up on my Goldwing my wife and I don't have room for camping gear, so we just motel it. It seams that you just need that pillion spot for strapping on camping gear.

Thanks for the reply. I almost forgot a out this thread. I think camping with limited space is fun and adds to the challenge. It'll make the GF pack way less, and that always works out for me ;). As for foods, it would probably require a second trip anyways and that I'm fine with.

I don't know how I feel with those huge tank bags. A small or decent sized one is fine, but I'd rather go with a Givi case. I know the costs are nowhere alike. I've never ridden with a big one, maybe somewhere down the line ill give it a try.

Go with soft saddle bags and a water proof duffle at the back. Your g/f will like the back support that the duffle can offer. Clothes etc in the saddle bags, tent, sleeping bags, roll mats in the duffle behind you.
