One person's junk, is another treasure.

I've gotten sucked into browsing Facebook Marketplace for long periods of time... some wild stuff on there. Apparently people think a lot of miserable late 80's GM trash is collectible, but of course it goes way beyond vehicles. Last notable item I can think of is a supposedly genuine Spitfire prop

Glad I'm not the only one.

Problem is...I find **** I end up buying. Sometimes the deals are just too good to pass up and if you hit an ad just after it's been posted, you can score some deals. I snatched up a saltwater system for my pool yesterday for $25, insane. I already have a saltwater system for my pool, but hey, at $25, I couldn't afford to not buy it as a backup lol.

A few weeks ago I scooped a nice Blackstone grill for $100. Same situation, caught it just as it was listed and I was able to pickup ASAP. Dude showed me his phone when I came to pick it up, he had north of 50 other messages from other people wanting it.

The best deals come from wives "cleaning out the garage" or "cleaning out the shed". ;)

As for weird stuff, yeah, it's out there, especially if you start looking. There's lots of, uh, "Pleasure toys" out there using different keywords that avoid the "no sex toys" FB marketplace ban.

There isn't much that I need right now. Am keeping an eye out for spare parts for my car, but they are few and far between.

Although! This reminds me of something. I kept seeing these really cheap on FB: https://www.costco.ca/cat-lithium-cube-jump-starter-1750a.product.4000149922.html

That looks useful right? Sounds like it would be great. But it was bothering me how cheap people were selling them for (like $50 or less). Well... turns out they have an energy capacity of 41Wh. Which is less than my cheap laptop, or a power bank that fits in my pocket.

Oh, absolutely the same here, but things like the saltwater system for a pool that would normally have been >$1000 new, when you see it for $25, well, hard to resist. Heck, I could resell it and make bank at that rate, although then you get to deal with all the hassle of selling **** on FB marketplace lol. I will probably just tuck it away for a bit as I suspect my current system is nearing end of life..

I have a soundbar surround sound system I've got listed right now and have one guy who's been yanking me around for a week and a half now and his last question was if I had the box....like, really, it's a 5 year old system and I bought the surround sound module and speakers used myself, come on.

Anyhow, as for those power box things, I can't believe Costco is still selling them. I almost bought one at a liquidation place a few months back as it seemed like it might have been a good solution for some backup power, but despite trying to piggyback on the Jackery appeal, yeah, they're total junk - tiny battery, circuit board problems, and of all the stupid things they used a fuse instead of an auto-reset breaker on the inverter, so if you overloaded it it would pop the fuse making it functionally garbage for most people as few people would be willing to open it up to solder in a replacement. If you want an emergency booster pack type thing there are far better options in far smaller packages - the Noco units are excellent.

Turns out that saltwater system was a timely purchase, my Hayward system died, new $800 cell needed. The $25 unit is working perfectly in lieu.

I browse regularly.
$100 mint Apple 44mm GPS SE Watch was one score.
$1,000 worth of discontinued LEGO high end bits ( Saturn 5, Space Station, rovers ) for $400 another. All nicely disassembled and full manuals. We had an unused telescope we sold for $400 on FB so more satisfying outcome - The Saturn is $399 on its own if you can find.
