I must be getting old because a 500cc bike is now considered SMALL!!
Left home at 9:30 am with sunny skies and 16 degrees.
150 km
I was riding my 1980 Moto Guzzi V50ii,
Suspension is not the greatest but because of the fast steering it is easyer to miss the pot holes.
I rode across the bridge at Deseronto and headed west thru Somesville where I spent my early life.
Just east of Northport I stopped and talked to an old guy that I went to school with for grade 1 to 4.
It was a one room school (1880s vintage) that his mother taught at.
And yes, I did walk uphill alone thru the snow in winter without a parent holding my hand.
Like all people my age we left the "County" as soon as we graduated to find work and a life.
A lot of us seem to get drawn back to the "County"as we grow older.
I did a little tour around Big Island and the roads are rough.
I guess nobody rich or important lives there!
I was amazed at how much prime waterfront is still farmers fields.
My route took me past the "High School" so I missed the tourist season traffic on Main Street.
Tim Horton's was my stop for an early lunch since I had missed my mid morning coffee break.
The starter relay was not working when I came out but I was able to bypass it with a wire I carry.
I headed west from Picton and turned up towards Base 31 to see how many people where attending the Motocraft Event.
I did not seem like many people where there.
On the way back down to the Glenora Ferry I stopped the engine to see if the starter was working.
It was not so I just rolled down the hill in 3rd gear and let out the clutch to start the engine.
Not wanting to risk the possibility of having to push the bike off the ferry (been there done that)
I detoured some back roads to the bridge at Deseronto.
I had a look at the starter relay this morning and it seems to have been a loose spade connector.

This is how we got across the Bay of Quite before the bridge was built in 1967
