Parking tickets when renewing permit

I just went to renew my plate sticker today and found out I have $92 in overdue parking tickets. I haven't had any tickets that I'm aware of in the past year, however, I paid for it because I need my bike on the road. I'm planning to take the transaction record to the ticket office to complain. Has anyone else done this before or am I wasting my time? Thanks

Generally speaking you're wasting your time and energy. They'll say they were sent in the mail, call you a liar and give you a number to call or an address where you can send something in writing

Thanks, that's what I figured. The ticket office is close to work so I might try to go on my lunch break this week anyway and see what they say. I've heard other people have gotten tickets dismissed right at the counter but since mine are apparently overdue I'm guessing I'm SOL.
