Just to clarify (i think i know the answer) once the registration on a bike has been listed as off road it can not be changed back to on road correct? Looking at buying a 250 soon, mainly interested in doing trails but cant help but think for how cheap it'd be to insure as a road bike it might be fun to slap lights and signals on it and have something to toy around with in town.

Was make and model? Was it road legal from the factory?

There are a couple of blue plated ktms on kijiji.......depends on what you looking to spend.

if you want to buy a new bike then you may be able to get an enduro with street legal knobbies on it and have the dealer give you a blue plate. WR250 comes to mind.
There's a CFR230 that is now street legal but not considered a serious dirt bike.

You cannot convert a green plate MX bike to a Blue plate road bike anymore. Unless it was a road legal eduro/dualsport from the factory it's green plate only.

There are still some converted bikes for sale occasionally on Kijiji so you might get lucky.

Yeah thats what i thought. Thanks for the info guys. Stuff keeps coming up (okay road racing is getting expensive because i keep falling down) so dirt is getting pushed back until the end of the summer or possibly next season. Im only looking to spend around 2k on a 250 four stroke from early 2000's, and want a good dirt bike. Just thought it'd be fun if i could road safety it and putt around in town, and i'm not the least bit surprised that OUR government doesn't let that happen.

I can sell you my 2006 crf 250x street legal
it sits in one of the bedrooms, and went for a ride twice for each of the last two years
it has useless things like battery and e-starter
