Dricked ,Not doing alterations this time of year as we are too busy with lettering and repairs. No worries,,Alterations are pretty much a thing of the past. Now you need to re-make the suit and most suits/jackets are designed to not be altered. Anything can be done but we have our foot in the oil pan right now trying to keep up with the suits we get everyday.

Ohhhh! Ya I kinda thought that's what was meant. I was slightly worried about how I was going to get my patches on my suits for next year, the kids fingers aren't callused up enough yet.

I called a bunch of places few years back and no one was willing to take on that type of alteration or the cost was more than buying a new jacket. I would love to take in the shoulders of one of my jackets but have come to accept that it's not gonna happen.

There's a guy at the 400 flea market that does all kinds of alterations. He's done quite a few things for me and the results are always great. I was skeptical at first but he's pretty good at what he does. He has the leather booth on the south side of the market next to the door from the parking lot. Easy to find. Sells chaps, boots, vests, jackets etc. at pretty good prices too.

This is not easy. Motorcycle jackets are complex, with vents, special pockets, back protection, belts/velcro at the waist, inner pockets, inner liner. If you simply take in the torso on the outer leather layer you'll then misalign many features, such as pockets.

Say a pocket is positioned so your hand slips in naturally, from your center line, say 75 degrees to the outside. If you take in the torso from the side, the easiest way, your pocket will me more like 90 degrees from the center line, making it awkward to insert your hand. This is only a simple example.

Say you want to reduce the shoulders on a jacket. You remove the sleeve and cut the opening closer to the neck. Now the sleeve hole is larger than the original sleeve hole, so you'll need to patch the arm pit to make up for the size difference. These alterations can compromise the structural integrity of the jacket.

Summary: If you have issues with torso or shoulder, it is cheaper and better to sell the jacket and buy one that fits. Not everything can be butchered and put back together.

That being said, if you have a fashion leather jacket with many less features, or an old school riding jacket with no armour, then it might be possible, but still expensive, and could compromise the structure of the jacket.
