More flexible knee armour

I'm aware that there are several drop-in alternatives for knee/elbow/shoulder/hip armour in suits, but I'm wondering if anyone has a similar experience here.

I have a Joe Rocket Speedmaster 5.0 two piece suit I bought a couple years ago. I mostly only wear the jacket, partly because the pants are not terribly comfortable. The sizing is fine I think, but the knee armour that it came with is very stiff. Combine that with being tall (have to bend my knees at a greater angle than most), and it doesn't take too long for my knees to get sore. Really sucks if its a day where I'm breaking 500km in the seat. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Is it even likely that I can remedy it by replacing the knee armour with something else? Recommendations?

I find I have a similar issue when riding with my JR pants. Being tall and on my little 250, bending the knees so hard causes the armor to just rise up (as well as the pants) and leaves me feely pretty uncomfortable. I'm looking at picking up a set of knee guards to wear under pants. Dainese has a nice set I'm eyeing, the Knee V guard, and they seem to rate well from what I've read. Couple that with a pair of hip armored undershorts, and I'll be happy.

Doesn't do much for your pants unless you remove the armor all together, but it's an option.

Look at forcefield inserts. Comfortable, vents like a dream, and flexible. Just what your looking for.

I have Dainese D-Dry pants with knee/shin armour which I'm fairly certain is responsible for some of the knee pain I've experienced over the years. The pants have a cold weather liner too; when all of the pieces are combined together and my knees bend, pressure is applied to the kneecaps. Circulation is restricted as well. It's insidious though--it doesn't feel obviously tight (the backs of the knee sections have elastic fabric).

I only discovered it after I started riding the Burgman, which allows for a relaxed, car-like seating position. While much better than my previous bikes, there remained a vague soreness which isn't a problem while driving. So the armour was removed and along with it, the problem. Stiffness on longer rides is still there, but that's not outright painful.

I don't doubt that higher, rearward pegs would still cause a problem on longer trips, just not as badly as before. That Forcefield stuff might be a good replacement. Thanks, Chaos.
