Michelin Powerpilot3 front tire cupping

Need your thoughts on this one. During my holiday Monday ride I develop a vibration from the front end. After inspecting the front tie I noticed it was not smooth anymore. These Michelin's only have 1000km on them. Is this common? Do I need to replace it?

Take the bike to where you purchased the tire and show them. Most likely it'll be replaced. 1000km is nothing and you shouldn't have an issue.

Cupping usually comes from underinflation OR severe (i.e. racetrack) braking. What tire pressure ?

If the tire gauge is correct ?

Ok, guys run their tires at 30psi at the track instead of 36. So your gauge is off say another 4psi and it's reading high. Running your tire at 28psi for 1000km should not destroy the tire.

If the gauge is reading low then you're even closer to the MAX psi recommended (always go off the sidewall of the tire not the owners manual).

I run 33psi on the street max. Shouldn't be a problem. I typically run 30psi

One more thought - what it balanced correctly during installation ?
Without a pic its hard to know whether what you're seeing is within the realm of normal, but the vibration you feel could be from lack of proper balancing ?
