Looking to import a modded cruiser into Canada

Hey Everyone,

First post but long time observer, this site has been a great help and I need your advice.

Im looking to import a 'modded' cruiser into Canada from the US. But when I say modded I mean more for esthetics. Eg. Fat tire, upgraded rims, custom rear fender, integrated lights (front and rear), air ride system, custom exhaust, etc. Basically the bike is chromed out and looks different than it would stock.

So my question is would Customs deny me entry? Do you guys foresee any difficulty in getting this thing into Canada?

Thanks for your help

Nope and nope. As long as it's still got and they can see the VIN# stamp you'll be OK :)

It has to pass the same safety inspection (here) as any other bike.

I think there is something in the RIV requirements that the vehicle has to meet US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, which is really only possible if the vehicle is stock with its certification label, but I think in practice, Canadian Tire (who does the RIV inspection) is just going to look for the FMVSS declaration (it's on the VIN label) and that's the end of it.
