Just had my first ride.

Just had my first ride on my bike. Wasn't long, 6 Km..about 10 mins. I had fun though, bike stalled twice at a stop sign. My own fault for still being in second gear.
Still learning the bike and everything. Found is much easier to be aware of what's around me and look ahead. The feel of you, the bike and the world around you is so different and freeing.

Not like when i'm in my car and i'm tired feeling and lazy.

Should be more fun tommorow.

The bike didn't stall. You stalled the bike. Always remember on a bike you are part of the machine, not just along for the ride.

It is a great feeling. How come you're selling bunch of gears if just started riding?
lol.. I was thinking the same thing..

The bike stalled, i caused it to stall. Yes, I know that:)

Did it again today, i keep forgetting to downshift at a stop, i'll learn.

Had another ride today, 30 mins this time, even did a little bit on the main street.

I did notice at a certain speed, i start to feel a "WUP WUP WUP" vibration and can hear it too.

Also when I get up to speed, my helmet makes whistling noises that i hear, if i put my head straight, nothing. If i turn it a little, it whistles.

Find yourself a large empty parking lot and practice coming to stop. Just before your left foot comes off the peg to the ground, get into the habit of tapping down several times to ensure you are in 1st gear at the stop. This is muscle memory and the more you practice this, the easier it becomes and will become 2nd nature. You don't ever want to be at a stop in 2nd gear and not being able to get away quickly especially if the vehicle coming up behind you fails to stop in time.

Agreed. I keep forgetting to do this. Thankfully I have lots of quit backstreets to use.

Awesome. Keep at it. I was stalling my first few rides; I tried to mostly ride in quiet neighbourhoods to learn. Now I'm going on busy streets no problem and haven't stalled in some time. I'm working on making my shifting smoother... more specifically, my rev-matching downshifts but it's getting better with time.

First sunday ride was nice. Got a good 24.5km in. Long road near my place, some normal city streets, right turns. Practiced breaking and downshifting in parking lot.

One point i was in 5th gear and when i went to slow down, I didn't down shift enough and i stalled and skidded a little bit. Was my own fault, but it was the one time.
Also cut a right turn a little wide onto a side street, must remember to slow down into the turn.

Loving all the riding though, another rider passed me on the one road, guess I wasn't going fast enough for him(and yes I was doing somewhat over the speed limit), but then i noticed he was riding the meridian?(yellow area with lines down the road" quite a bit.

Did you happen to take a course to acquire your M2......from your posts I am leaning towards a No

Actually, yes I did take a course. It was a weekend course and I don't have my M2 yet, I have to wait till mid july to bring in the paperwork.

I learned plenty from the course, it's applying it and building my skills and confidence with practice that will make the difference. Which is what i'm doing right now, i ride maybe once a day for a short time.
