Using schematics the first time can be tricky -- the schematic will only show circuits for each section of a harness, it is not a reflection of the harness construction or layout. Inside each sescion of the harness, connections could be anywhere -- spider crimps, double-headed into terminal connectors, bullet connectors... That blue star could be any of the above and located anywhere the harness goes... the tail light, under the seat or inside the nacelle...

But the clues Javafan pointed out, Electrical tape and Fender eliminator are your next stop. I'll bet unwrapping the electrical tape will show a dirty twisted wire splice. to fix this, snip off the bare wires and strip them back 1/2 cm. If you have a soldering iron and shrink tube, solder and shrink them. If not, 2nd best option is weatherproof crimp connectors (still trim back and strip to clean wire).
