The word "Legend" is termed to subjective interpretation.
In the field of motorcyles, the BMW R32, the Triumph Speed Twin, Ducati 900SS, Brough Superior SS100, Vincent Black Shadow, are all "legends".
None of the above were close to the term "Superbike", as were these two that started the trend ...

Not sure 1969 or 1972 qualifies as 'modern', but both bikes are definitely legendary. I don't think I've read a 'Greatest Motorcycles of All-Time' list where the CB hasn't at least been in the top three, and it's usually ranked first...
