okay this all started when i wanted to take out a washer from my carb cuz i figured it was running too rich

i took the top cap off removed one washer and the bike did not take any throttle after that .. it would only idle.. any thottle and it would shot off.. so then i cleaned my jets just in case they were dirty... then put the carbs back on
i must have messed up the left carb float... the bike turned a few times then stopped i tried again i thought my batter died so again it turned and same thing it stopped and there was gas pissing out of the airbox over flow tube. i pulled the carb out and i put my finger in the left cylinder and there is a ton of gasoline... i hope i dint hydrolock or bend anything.., anycase very depressing.. :)

what should i do now.. how do i get the gas out of the left cylinder?

Take the plugs out and turn it over a few times..

Hydro locking isnt from fuel its from oil, fuel compresses oil does not...If you have too much fuel the term you are looking for is flooding or flooded, not hydro locking...

Pull your spark plug and turn the bike over with no plugs, that will free up the motor and allow it to push out the excess fuel

what are u talking about? hydro locking is from any typr of liquid. liquids dont compress, yest you can hydro lock it from fuel. pull your plugs and have your carbs fixed first.

this is what i think too.. i think the pistons are only built to push air. not any liquid. so you can lock with gasoline.

i am guessing that i should hand turn?
since a spark wouldnt be a good idea with all that gas in there.

can i put it in gear, lift the rear wheel and turn it with the plugs removed? that should work right?

most liquids are non compressible. gas's are.
any time you have a greater amount of any liquid then the amount of space in the engine you can hydro lock it. if it was just at a stop/start you should be fine.

I have never seen or heard of a motorcycle locking from fuel flooding. I have however seen it myself from oil many times...Since fuel is much less dense compared to oil, its much easier and more common to hydrolock and cause damage with oil...Fuel should either compress with the air or blow by the piston rings....

Since the motor was not moving under load, he should have not caused any damage with simply fuel and trying to start it....Even under idle this should not cause any damage. Usually bent rods only happen when the engine is under load with significant RPM and then stops suddenly. Or is forced to turn over once locked...

When I have had to deal with hydro locked engines, I simply remove all the plugs, and turn the engine over....Since removing the plugs releases the seal on the cylinders, any fluid that was locked inside will be pushed out of the spark plug holes...JUST MAKE SURE YOU COVER THE HOLES, AND HAVE EYE PROTECTION....I have had oil shoot under very high pressure 30 feet into the air...Or turn it over by hand if you want to be safer

will this work.. i put bike in gear, remove plugs, lift rear wheel and turn the wheel while its in gear.?

With the plugs out, whatever way you are able to turn the motor over will work....Starter, wrench on crankshaft end, or your wheel method, etc.....

It is possible to hydrolock on gas but you need to provide more informaton.

What type of bike, what year, and what "washer" did you remove from the carb?

If anything it sounds like its running very rich. At idle to 1/4 throttle its the Pilot Jet and Pilot Air Screw that controls this circuit. Did you remove or adjust any of these. Is the float height correct? Did you remove the little "washer" from the bottom of the main jet that locks the needle jet or emulsion tube?

What sort of fuel cock is it. Yamaha's of the 80's and 90's had a horrible problem where the "valve" would fail causing the carbs to fill up with gas and overflow exactly like it had been left set on prime.

problem fixed.

why did it flood?

because i hooked the vacuum line to the fuel and the fuel to the vacuum. :)

how did i fix?

i put the bike in gear, lifted back tire, took off spark plugs. turned rear tire and gas went flying every where.

fixed float, put back together. new spark plugs,,no leak no flooding, thank GOD !

the original problem of stalling under throttle was due to me putting the washer back on the needle in the wrong order... :)

didnt take it for a spin yet as i want to do the oil change incase the oil is fouled

will buy some oil tomorrow.. thank you for the tips

is there a website that will give me the bolt sizes used on my bike... i got 4 bolts missing.. 2 for the gas tank 2 for the plastics...
