Can anyone tell me what the difference between a gix 05 K4 and a K5 model is? How can i find out which one it is that i have? The ownership doesn't say anything about this. I'm trying to pick up some fairings (aftermarket) but they are always specifying wether it's a K4 or K5 model.

The 2004 and 2005 GSXR600 are the same.. no??

K4 = 2004
K5 = 2005

They are the same bike.

That's what i originally thought. But whomever i ask they respond with is it a K4 or K5 model; eventhough, I do mention it's a 2005 GSX-R 600.

I have a feeling that whoever you're talking to doesn't know what they're talking about. The GSXR1000 did change between 04(K4) and 05(K5). The 600 and 750 did not.

However, your ownership will state what model year the bike is. If its an 04 you have a K4. If its an 05 you have a K5.

04 (k4) and 05 (k5) gsxr 600/750 are identical. Only difference is color schemes.

Thanks. The ownership does specify that it is a 2005 but not a K5 for the smartass in the replies. So I take it from everyone's reply that I need a K5 which is the same as 2005.

The K-nomenclature is how Suzuki denotes model year for their bikes. Now you know.

I still don't understand why the person you're in contact with is asking whether it is a 2004 or 2005 since they are the same bike.

Nor do i man, thanks for your help. I think your right about the people questioning me had no clue what they were talking about as the seller that i just bought the parts from said 04-05 are identical and didn't bring up the K crap :)

K4/K5 are the same bike in the sense the design, the guy who was asking you probably wasn't sure what he was asking himself. People get confused, lets say an Audi S4, someone will ask you what body style is it? then you can reply B4 or B5 < which dosen't mean its 2004 or 2005 the models could be some other years, because those are actual B=body codes for the make, or like VW use... mk1 mk2 mk3 mk=make.....Suzuki bikes use "K" which stands for "YEAR" like Y2"K"=Year 2000< "K", so K4 or K5 = 2004 or 2005, therefore in short form suzuki recognizes their body codes by year K. Hope this makes sense. So when someone asks you what bike is it, you can either say 2005 gsxr 600 or if you want to say it quick K5 gixxer 600. if you had a 2004 you would say K4, the guy should have understood you have a K5 when you said your bikes 2005. He obviously was a noob all things motor.
