Fake MotoGP videos - What's the deal?

I like to watch MotoGP on YT. Sometimes I'm watching a race with Nick Harris giving the colour commentary, I'll be a few laps in and realize it's just animation (albeit quite good). What's up with that?

I'm guessing people record and post simulations/game play from MotoGP video games.

I think there's no payment from YouTube unless people watch for a certain period of time, so I would imagine they overdub the commentary to keep people watching long enough to get their penny. Just the video in silence would tip people off pretty quickly that it's not a real race.

They also did some virtual races with the real racers playing the same game during Covid, but that was obviously not a real race and showed them with a controller in hand.

You're right they have sucked me in. However the commentary does exactly match the graphics which is the part I find weird.
