The weather over the next week looks fantastic!
What is everyone planning? Maintenance and rides!
I just cleaned my clutch (dry clutch) and what a difference! I didn't know anything about dry clutch's and didn't realize that they have to be cleaned regularly and that they get very hot. Mine was "moaning" from take off, I thought it was toast but once cleaned it is running excellent. However, I did measure it and will need a new setup for next season! I left the cover off so it can breathe and hopefully not get so dirty and stay cooler! So far so good! Going to try and ride every day from now till next Friday! IMG_0275.jpeg

Leave the cover off?

Spinning things with torque and teeth give me a chill.

Venting the dry clutch goes a long way in keeping it maintenance free. I haven't needed to really clean mine since installing a 3/4 cover since all the dust just gets blown out. The front 1/4 that's technically exposed is covered by the fairing.

They make vented aftermarket covers for that if you can find one for the year/model. Or maybe you could always go with longer bolts and add some spacers between the factory cover and case?

Having it exposed, like @Mad Mike said can be dangerous. I am not worried about your hair, more like a pant leg, shoe lace, or something else. Just takes a second.

Of course dust and whatever could also get in, or out....

agreed, I did a bit of research and the main concern was items getting caught in there. Apparently the aftermarket covers can be pressed in pretty easily. I only wear race boots with pants tucked in so figured it was somewhat ok. My concern was if my boot touches it while it's spinning? I did read that in that case the boot will just get scuffed? Not sure, hasn't happened yet!

Probably just bounce off a boot as it is spinning pretty fast. Its all odds though. You could be the one that gets unlucky and it grabs onto something and then badness happens quickly.

Don't think I'd trust my boots. If your foot gets pinched against those whirling springs, it's not gonna buff out.

Nobody plans an accident.

Went out for a quick ride last evening and it seems that all the dingbats were out! Cancelled that ride early. Went out this morning and had a blast! I saw several solo adv bikes heading north, no other bikes to been seen. I guess everyone is waiting for the traffic to build!

Have to say this has been the best Sep for weather I've ever lived through. Ya for hurricanes!
Last many years, September has become my favourite month of the year. Getting better all the time. May, seems to have gone in the opposite direction.

If we all drive our pickup trucks a little harder, we might get summer in October too.
