Engine stand

I need to fabricate an engine stand for a 4 cylinder motorcycle engine. Obviously it must be robust. My first attempt was based on 1" square steel tubing but it proved to be inadequate. I need some 3/16 or 1/4 steel plate for the next one. I looked high and low but can't find any at a reasonable price in Toronto. Lots in the US but postage is a killer. The steel is basic, nothing fancy, cold rolled is fine.
I only need a few small pieces. Any suggestions for sourcing it in the GTA?

This crankcase splits vertically like the old British twins not horizontally like the Japanese fours.

It won't be the cheapest but for a small quantity, metal supermarkets is convenient.

How small is small? Post approximate dimensions and someone may feel generous and give you some of their offcuts.

Thanks for the quick response. I need 4 pieces about 12" by 6"

Just about any machine shop would be able to sell you what you want.
Or you could go to this or similar...
