Dirt pants for road?

I am looking to get my GF some pants to protect against road rash. Royal has a LOT of dirt pants. Are they as good as synthetic road pants when it comes to abrasion? She has downhill bicycle armor to put underneath so armor is not a concern.

They won't offer any protection on asphalt. Better off finding some riding jeans and wear the armour underneath.

your worry is abrasion, not impact. dirt pants won't protect that.

Yeah I started using motocross knee armour under my riding jeans in Aus as I was off road so much. So light can't even feel it and good knee and shin protection plus really cheap.
Under Kevlar or some such is the best but she'll hate the bulk.

at times but mostly just unarmoured riding pants and now have added the knee armour.

something along these lines. They look big - they weight nothing.
