The shadows from the alone make that madness. So much visual clutter.
From watching that video, it looks like there could be a ton of time made up with fancy suspension. It's hard to make dumb suspension that can cope with that variety of problems but smart suspension that knows your position and the track could conceivably allow you to increase the pace substantially (or chuck you into a wall).
