....I understand why you would be chasing something more comfortable though.

Age. 10 years ago sleeping on the cold hard ground under a hoochie was ok for me. Now I like a little more comfort.

It does look comfy, but setting it up with skeeters and blackflies eating you would be a nightmare. Thermarest is much simpler.

When camping I carry a double size air mattress and an air compressor. However, whenever I can I book a KOA cabin, which is best of both worlds, still having the camping experience with outdoor living, fire pit and picnic table but sleep on a mattress in a heated / cooled place.

I highly recommend this pad. Packs up smaller than my water bottle. Inflates in about 15 breaths. Built in pillow that is surprisingly comfortable.

You'll feel the ground if you're sitting on it but when lying down, you're completely off the ground.
