Awesome story. Finished 9th.

Meet DUTCHY. (Wouter-jan V Dijk)
#741x just finished the Baja1000 late last night. His story is incredible. The off road world is buzzing about his race. Short version….He flew from Australia, bought a used bike in San Diego. (2015 KTM 500). Rode it to San Filipe in the southern end of Baja, thus balding his new tires. Bought, borrowed and scraped together the required safety gear in order to pass tech inspection, barely. Has no sponsors. No pit crew. Didnt pre-run anything. Racing alone, IRONMAN Class. He took the race by storm, LEADING for 400 miles and just finished last night with a bent front rim and tire held together by zip ties. This guy is now a Baja Legend and should is be GIVEN a bike by KTM. Read the comments on his finish video. Epic.2 days, 1 hour and 5 minutes. The race this year was 1311 miles.

It appears one can survive almost anything if help arrives quickly
Within 48 hours of being shot, she had to undergo eight major surgeries.

“I’ve had my right arm amputated, I’ve had my jaw wired, my teeth removed … I had open heart surgery for my heart, my lungs. I had my appendix out, I had my colon removed, reattached twice. Hip surgery,” she said.

“I was placed in a medically induced coma for a few days -- quite a few days -- just to make sure that I was able to try to heal a little bit before I was able to wake up.”
