Yes but with motorcycle insurance that might actually be a benefit ;) younger riders statistically get in far less accidents. Not the same for car insurance.

I think honestly a good choice would be something in the 100hp range, the fz6 as someone else mentioned looks good.. I'm checking out some of the other 600cc bikes that have good upright positions... the vstrom 650... 100hp will be about double what the rc 390 has which seems plenty.

Not sure what your practicing, but sometimes just a good clear backroad is all you need... in theory of course... I'm lucky in that my driveway is 600'... but its gravel so its not the best.... once I get it paved though it will be pretty good.

I dont think its the bikes fault, how is your driving record... any suspensions... speeding tickets more then 15kmph over? Its worth checking around cause every insurance company is different, the price difference can be HUGE... state farm won't even insure a motorcyclist unless you've had full...

There are times when I cheer for a motorcyclist hitting a cars mirror because the car is driving dangerously/whatever... this was not one of those times... I think the bikes were driving just as dangerously and had terrible excuses as to why..... thats just my opinion though.

I have my m1 and I got insurance no problem on a 375cc bike, its not inexpensive but wasnt anymore expensive then my car insurance. I was driving before I did the course and i found it helped alot, even instructor said that was likely why i was doing so well... of course you will learn bad...
