I have an FZ-07 and love it. It would only be a waste of time if you're coming from a faster bike, like a Daytona. In this situation I say go with the FZ-09 or XSR900.

$6499 for a leftover brand new '15 is a decent deal IMO. Most dealers will indeed charge you those fees, it's pretty standard. Though, when I bought mine last winter, I paid MSRP + tax. No discounts to be had on a brand new first model year bike in high demand, but the dealer ate the freight...

I just wear normal cotton socks. I don't find my feet getting overly hot and I wear Alpinestars S-MX 6 boots.

Same. Picked up this bike May 15th and on the 22nd it was in for the 1000km service (with 1202km on it).

It's certainly better than the old air-cooled engines, though my Yamaha has 40,000km intervals.

The day after I picked it up. **** photo because my phone's camera is ****. It now has a full Yoshimura exhaust and those awful tank warning stickers removed.

I love my FZ-07 to death but I really like the styling on this XSR700. If the radiator was black it would look much better.

Be weary of the helmets they sell. The vast majority are way past their "sell by" date, in that many manufacturers say 5 years is when a helmet should be replaced. I was looking at some Shark S800s they had that were manufactured in early 2005. No thank you. The other crap they have is GMAX...

The 390 Duke I checked out at the local dealer was the shoddiest piece of brand new crap I've ever seen. What a mess.

I just picked up an FZ-07 and it's comfortable and has enough power to keep me entertained for a while. Great bike, though a tourer it is not. For your commute you'd want a tall windscreen.

Black and blue FZ-09 ripping by me up a hill in Paris on Friday around 2pm. Asserting dominance over my FZ-07, I guess :D
