I think that as your brake pads wear down they transfer more heat to the caliper and ultimately the fluid. That's something to consider if you are experiencing brake fade and fluid boiling. Pads with half the material left might be ok for street use but not racing.
I'm not sure cause this thread is almost 10 pages but has anyone thought about three new groups...No green ever.
"Yellow" where you can pass everywhere but is for new riders and street Rossi types
"Dark yellow" where you can pass everywhere for people who should be in Red but was since red is...
I'm going to call it like I saw it...
I've been going to Mosport for over ten years straight and in regards to the BMW Motorrad days I pretty much have mixed feelings in what they were doing.
I liked the price at 55$ free camping and goodies at the door. However money spent at the event by...

just to trying to answer your first question as to why the crash happened - it appears you found the limit of grip at the rear tire for sure. The cause of that would be guesses but it appears to me to be a few things.

I just bought a new R1 and I'll be following the manual and doing a hard breakin at the same time. The manual states not to use prolonged high RPM operation and not to over heat it. So you can blast up to the red line a few times and vary your RPMs and all that stuff buddy recommends - just...
