I started racing this year and can tell you that it's extremely fun and the majority or racers are friendly and really go out of theur way to help you out.
Don't let this thread discourage you, if your intent is to start racing one day. Like everywhere else where there is competition there are...
Correct, they didn't say anything about "passing rules", they just said to be safe. Before signing in for the TD I emailed them and to inquire about passing on the Green group and they told me that passing in corners is fin but just avoid to pass at the apex.
I saw a rider passing a slower guy...
Same here, I did it in the parking lot of my condo. Theoretically you're not allowed to do it and I strongly suggest that you do NOT do it in your condo parking lot unless you really know what you're doing.
You can have the coolant spill everywhere very easily and make a mess.
1- If you're not...
Yesterday at the track was sketchy even for experienced riders. CTMP is a difficult and scary track for people new to track days. It doesn't matter how fast your bike is if you have no idea what to do on the track.
It's great that people want to experience the track and have a safe space to use...
I did R5 4 years ago and then again last year.
The course is really easy going, they never put pressure on you and they start with the basics.
If I remember correctly I didn't even touch the brakes for the first 2 days.
Previously I rode bikes on the street for many years and developed lots of...
If you're considering going racing you could start next year (or this) instead of waiting.
You don't have to necessarily do a whole season, you could just do sporadic weekends.
I just say so because you may be postponing something you'd like to do just because you may not feel ready for it or...
I think you put it in clear words. Track riding and street riding are different things.
It really depends on what you enjoy most. I love both but for the reasons shared by most here I chose track only.
The only thing I strongly recommend is that if you're looking for adrenaline bursts and want...
I moved to Canada 8 years ago and didn't even bother getting the M licence. I live downtown and don't find it fun riding in the city, plus I love to walk.
I would love to buy a nice bike and go for a ride here and there but in my case the insurance cost is too much. I'd realistically ride the...
I didn't personally but saw few people sleeping in tents in there.
Just make sure to keep your tent close and not too stay too long in the grass, some people reported being bitten bit ticks at the CSBK round few weeks back.
Also make sure to check what time they open/close the gates if they...
I used to watch Serie A but I stopped many years ago. Roma was one of my favorite and all my italian friends go nuts for Roma ;)
I think sticking with R5 is a good plan. This year at first I wanted to just do their events but it meant that I'd only be riding July to August.
So I decided to buy...
I've called Tammy from Red Dawn Trackdays.
They have an ambulance on site on their track days at Cayuga.
Not sure about the track days organized by the TMP staff.
I did the R5 Intro last year, the a track day with them on a 125 and the endurance race on a 250. I had your same doubts about moving on the 250 but I think it was the right call.
Since you're doing the 3 races I think you made the right decision with going with the 125 on the first one.
When...
It was my first race weekend ever and I had a blast.
Everyone I met on the weekend was extremely friendly and helpful.
I'm really thankful to @Owen that came pick me up and tutored me even if we never met before.
I'm getting ready for Session 1 at RACE thanks to Owen that is really supporting me.
I'm finishing my licence application today, I'm getting really excited
