    Kahuna's add 7-11-2013

I saw the ad and the main message I got was disrespect - maybe lame humour. But also mean-spirited and a bit cruel. Completely unnecessary. IMHO it was a total turn-off and a stupid business move. However quite consistent with the attitude I have enountered with said dealership. I have...

Anyone using mesh jackets or pants in this heat? Recommendations...

Don't get me wrong - the air glide is a great choice - I have no regrets. When I am wearing a casual t- shirt the jacket is ok in the heat. But I have to wear dress shirts to work and between my sweating and the compression of the jacket, my shirt is wrecked. So I need something even lighter for...

Anyone using mesh jackets or pants in this heat? Recommendations...

Yup - I have the Olympia mesh air glide and it is perfect at up to 18-22 degrees celcius. Over that I sweat like a pig. :( At 28-30 C it's really hot. Have resorted to squiding. Any helpful ideas are welcome.

    Thanks, and some Questions

+100 on keeping to the basics for your course. You probably have everything you need ( or could borrow) for a couple of days. The only thing is the helmet - and it makes sense to pick one you will be ok with forthe first 2 years. $150 will cover that. Aside from a DOT approved helmet youwill...

    Orangeville Couple down in Cali

A terrible and tragic situation and I wish the survivors the best as they recover. I notice the article indicates that the drivers prior conviction resulted in probation and a fine after the original charges were reduced. He has not yet been officially charged for the current situation as the...

Beware-parking near Mutual an Shuter street downtown

If you are parking in the area this may be of interest. My bike has been tampered with twice in the last three days. Yesterday some kind person kicked in the panel that covers my bike tool kit compartment. No big deal to replace but very annoying. Just saying ...

    Need advice for highway riding

Lots of good advice above. I am in my first two months of riding a motorcycle, though am used to sub-60km traffic having riden a Vespa for eight years. I found the main barrier to highway riding has been due to a combination of confidence and getting over a psychological barrier. In my case I...

    Dropped my bike today ><

OP - its all good. Everone sometimes stalls their bike. Some more than others but it's no big deal. While I have not yet dropped my bike, I can assure I've had lots of close calls. A little inattention can get you in dire situation fast. What seems to be working for me is that I am resolved to...

Permit parking on street - wtf? i got a ticket?

OP Go to city hall and ask for a parking permit for your motorcycle. It is free. They will give you a laminated parking sticker ( same ones they issue for cars). They will also give you a nylon fastener. You attach the sticker to your bike in an obvious spot. Of Course they will check your...

    Help me choose a bike!

I guess we will not likely meet. Or, by your logic, like each other if we do. I have read too many of your posts. Any more sweeping generalizations you' d like to make?

Who The Hell Is "Intact" Insurance? They Raise My Rate $200

My insurance (Jevco/Intact) went from $600 to $679 for a 150cc 2005 Vespa ET4. Rider is 50+ with clean driving record and no claims in 15+ years. This is a bs rate for a Vespa. Give me a break :( Checked with my carrier (Aviva) for my 800cc Suzuki Boulevard and I can add the Vespa for about...

Buying an uncertified used bike from an individual - how to proceed?

OP Based on what you say - I'd walk. If there is no way to verify you are taking all the risk. Lots of good bikes around and decent sellers too. If the bike is not sold as certified - ask why and negotiate very favorable price. Good bet they know the bike has problems. Lots of 5 year old...

Some advice on my first Bike

OP The only way to know what bike is right for you is to get up close. Ergonomics are number one. If you are not comfortable or you can't access the controls easily you won't be happy. Every body and every bike is different. Cruiser and standard bikes are perfect for me but a sports bike kills...
