Michelin is also very good choice. They've introduced 3 new tires for 2013 all of which could apply to the OP. The new DOT race tire is the Power Cup, the new Power One is the Power Supersport and the new Power Pure is the Power 3. The Canadian Michelin race guy is Wayne at Kennedy Motorsports.

Speed Triple all the way! The CB1000R is nice but not as nice as a Triumph Speed Triple. If your upgrading from an SV650 the FZ8 may not be enough of an upgrade. Ask your insurance company what your rates would be on both of them.
